On November 16, 2009, the Easttown Township Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the Local Services Tax in Ordinance 393.09. The title of the Ordinance is as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF EASTTOWN, CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, IMPOSING A TAX FOR SPECIFIC REVENUE PURPOSES FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF ENGAGING IN AN OCCUPATION WITH A PRIMARY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT WITH THE TOWNSHIP DURING THE TAX YEAR; AND SETTING FORTH SUCH NECESSARY STANDARDS PROVIDING FOR TITLE; AUTHORITY; DEFINITIONS; LEVY OF TAX; EXEMPTION AND REFUND; DUTY OF EMPLOYERS TO COLLECT; RETURNS; DATES OF DETERMINING TAX LIABILITY AND PAYMENT; SELF-EMPLOYED INDIVIDUALS; INDIVIDUALS ENGAGED IN MORE THAN ONE OCCUPATION OR EMPLOYED IN MORE THAN ONE POLITICAL SUBDIVISION; NON RESIDENTS SUBJECT TO TAX; ADMINISTRATION OF TAX; SUITS FOR COLLECTION; VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES; INTERPRETATION; AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS PROVIDED HEREIN. The Township has imposed the tax, under the Local Tax Enabling Act, 53 P.S. §§ 6910, 6913, 6924.101 et seq, for specific revenue purposes in the amount of $52.00 on the privilege of engaging in an occupation with a primary place of employment within the Township during the tax year. The tax will be used for the following purposes as the same may be allocated by the Township from time to time: (1) emergency services, which shall include emergency medical services, police services and/or fire services; and (2) road construction and/or maintenance. The Township shall use no less than twenty-five percent of the funds derived from the tax for emergency services, which shall include emergency medical services, police services and/or fire services.
