This year, Easttown initiated an ongoing, long-term street tree planting program. The Township's 2023 budget included funding for the installation of 17 native street trees within portions of the Old Berwyn Village residential neighborhood, including Bridge, Berwyn, and Main Avenues. The Trees will be installed in the beginning of November on ten different properties.
All trees selected for the program are native to southeastern Pennsylvania and suitable as street trees, with individual species selected to respect each property's particular characteristics. The trees will generally be 2-2.5" in diameter at the time of installation. Participating property owners will be responsible for maintaining their trees, including pruning and watering.
The benefits of trees are well documented: they provide habitat and shade, give our streets scale, make our neighborhoods beautiful, and boost home values. This initial planting will begin the process of enhancing Easttown's tree canopy, and Easttown's tree-lined streets will make our community an even better place to live, work and visit.
Participation in the program is entirely voluntary. If you are interested in learning more about the program and potentially participating in future tree plantings, please fill out the form below, and Township Staff will contact you with more information.
