Volunteer Opportunities Beginning in January 2022


Board of Supervisors Vacancy Board

Easttown Township seeks a volunteer for the upcoming vacant Chair position on its Vacancy Board.  The purpose of the Vacancy Board is set forth by the Second Class Township Code and consists of the Board of Supervisors and one elector of the Township, who shall act as Chair of the Vacancy Board.  The purpose of this Chair position is to fill a vacancy, in the event that the Board of Supervisors is unable to reach a decision on who should fill that vacancy.

Interested candidates must be residents of the Township and have the flexibility to meet as needed.  The term of this vacancy begins once appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2022 and expires on December 31, 2022.  Please submit a resume and letter of interest to Eugene Briggs, Township Manager, ebriggs@easttown.org by Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Easttown Citizen’s Advisory Committee Vacancies

Easttown Township seeks volunteers for the upcoming six (6) vacant positions on its Easttown Citizen’s Advisory Committee (ECAC).  As an advisory group, the ECAC evaluates and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on matters that improve the financial position and operational effectiveness of the Township.  More detailed information is available at the following link:  https://ecode360.com/15298768.

Interested candidates must be residents of the Township and have availability on the evenings of the second Monday of each month.  The terms of these vacancies begin once appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2022 with three (3) terms expiring on December 31, 2024 and three (3) terms expiring on December 31, 2025. Easttown Library Board of Trustees Vacancies

Easttown Township seeks volunteers for the upcoming two (2) vacant positions on its Easttown Library Board of Trustees (Library Board).  As an advisory group, the Library Board oversees the efficient operation of the Easttown Library by establishing policies and long-term goals, initiating and overseeing the budget process, and promoting and advocating for the library in the community.  
Interested candidates must be residents of the Township and have availability on the evenings of the fourth Wednesday of each month. The terms of these vacancies begin once appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2022 and expire on December 31, 2024. Environmental Advisory Council Vacancy

Easttown Township seeks a volunteer for the upcoming vacant position on its Environmental Advisory Council (EAC).  As an advisory group, the EAC advises the Board of Supervisors, Township administration, Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Board, Citizens Advisory Committee, and Historical Commission on matters dealing with the protection, conservation, management, promotion, and use of natural resources, including air, land, and water resources.  Interested candidates must be residents of the Township and have availability on the evenings of the fourth Thursday of each month.  The term of this vacancy begins once appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2022 and expires on December 31, 2024.  Please submit a resume and letter of interest to Eugene Briggs, Township Manager, ebriggs@easttown.org by Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Emergency Management Coordinator Vacancy

Easttown Township seeks a volunteer for the upcoming vacant Coordinator position on its Emergency Management Organization (EMO).  The EMO is responsible for emergency management, response, and recovery within the Township and consists of representatives from the Township, Berwyn and Paoli Fire Companies, and the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.  The Coordinator should be capable of planning, effecting coordination among the operating agencies, and controlling coordinated operations within the Township.  Interested candidates must have the flexibility to meet as needed.  The term of this vacancy begins once appointed by the Board of Supervisors, subject to County and State acceptance, and expires on December 31, 2022.  Please submit a resume and letter of interest to Eugene Briggs, Township Manager, ebriggs@easttown.org by Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Historical Commission Vacancies

Parks and Recreation Board Vacancy

Easttown Township seeks a volunteer for the upcoming vacant position on its Parks and Recreation Board (PRB).  As an advisory body, the PRB makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on plans for the acquisition, construction, improvement, maintenance, equipping, operation, financing, and regulation of Township recreation facilities, including but not limited to, parks, trails, playgrounds, and playfields. Planning Commission Vacancy

Easttown Township seeks a volunteer for the upcoming vacant position on its Planning Commission (PC).  As an advisory body, the PC makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on all land development and subdivision applications that are submitted to the Township.  The PC plays an important role in developing and implementing the Township’s Comprehensive Plan, as well as keeping the Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development Codes up to date and in compliance with Pennsylvania’s Municipalities Planning Code.  More information is available at the following link:  https://ecode360.com/15298765.

Interested candidates must be residents of the Township and have availability on the evenings of the first Tuesday each month for regular business meetings.  Additional time will be required for special PC meetings, projects, and plan review, as necessary.  The term of this vacancy begins once appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2022 and expires on December 31, 2025.  Please submit a resume and letter of interest to Eugene Briggs, Township Manager, ebriggs@easttown.org by Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Zoning Hearing Board Vacancy

Easttown Township seeks volunteers for the upcoming three (3) vacant positions on its Zoning Hearing Board (ZHB).  The ZHB’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, hearing and deciding on: substantive challenges to the validity of any land use ordinance, except those brought before the Board of Supervisors; appeals from Zoning Officer and Township Engineer determinations regarding zoning and floodplain management regulations; and variances and special exceptions from Zoning and floodplain management regulations.  More detailed information is available at the following link:  https://ecode360.com/15297931.

Interested candidates must be residents of the Township with the flexibility to meet on the third Thursday of each month when hearings are scheduled as needed.  The terms of these vacancies begin once appointed by the Board of Supervisors in January 2022 and expire as follows:

  • One primary position with a three-year term
  • One alternate position with a three-year term
  • One alternate position with a two year term
